The City of Oregon City is moving forward to adopt implementing zoning for properties located within the Beavercreek Road Concept Plan area. Please join The Hamlet of Beavercreek Town Hall meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 23rd, at 7:00 p.m. to hear from the City of Oregon City Senior Planner Christina Robertson-Gardiner. Christina will explain the upcoming process and request your perspective of the project.
For those not familiar with the plan, the Beavercreek Road Concept Plan (BRCP), initially adopted by the City Commission in August 2008 and readopted in 2016, is a guide to the creation of a complete and sustainable community generally located on the east side of Beavercreek Road, south of Thayer Road. The BCRP envisions a diverse mix of uses woven together by open space, trails, a network of green streets, and sustainable development practices, including an employment campus north of Loder Road, mixed-use districts along Beavercreek Road, and two mixed-use residential neighborhoods. The Plan forecasts between 1,000-1,600 new housing units and up to 5,000 jobs at complete build-out.
You can obtain a copy of the Concept Plan at: www.orcity.org/Beavercreekconceptplan.
From now through June 2019, the City will be updating the Oregon City Comprehensive Plan and Oregon City Municipal Code to allow planned industrial, housing and mixed-use development to occur, including applying zoning and map designations for properties within the BRCP area. To honor the process to date, the vision and content of the Beavercreek Road Concept Plan is not anticipated to be reopened as part of this process. Development of each newly zoned parcel will be based on market conditions which could take many years to build out fully.
There will be several opportunities for you to participate in the Beavercreek Road Code Update process. Two public events on the evenings of Tuesday, January 29th and Tuesday, April 9th will provide residents with an opportunity to provide comments on draft BRCP implementation products:
- Tuesday, January 29, 2019- Oregon City High School Library- 7:00-8:30 PM
- Tuesday, April 9, 2019- Oregon City High School Library- 7:00-8:30 PM
In addition, public work sessions will be scheduled with the Oregon City Planning Commission and City Commission in May and June. More details will be made available as the meeting dates approach on the project website www.orcity.org/Beavercreekconceptplan.
The overall project schedule is illustrated below.
