Improving Oregon’s economy – safer, more reliable, earthquake-ready travel
Preparing for 2022 construction
Tree removal work was recently completed on each bank of the Willamette River underneath the Abernethy Bridge in Oregon City and West Linn. This work provided construction access for the first phase of construction on the I-205 Abernethy Bridge and adjacent interchanges. Construction is anticipated to begin in late spring/early summer 2022.
Crews will replant these areas at the end of Phase 1 construction.

Community outreach in Oregon City!
The community outreach team appreciates everyone who stopped by our Oregon City Farmer’s Market booth last month to learn more about the first phase of construction scheduled to begin in 2022.
We look forward to seeing you at local markets and events next spring.
If your organization or association would like to schedule a briefing or more information about the project, please email our team!
The outreach team talked to over 40 people at the market on September 25, 2021.
About the project
The project is part of a regional effort to manage congestion, increase predictable travel times and reduce crashes. Project improvements will allow I-205 to remain open and passable following a major earthquake. A safer, less congested corridor will play a critical role in a healthy Oregon economy. The project will be constructed in phases. The first phase of construction is scheduled to begin in late spring/early summer 2022.

Ways to stay up-to-date
