Clackamas County seeks volunteers to serve on Traffic Safety Commission

Clackamas County is recruiting for several positions to serve on the Traffic Safety Commission (TSC). The TSC is seeking community members living in Clackamas County to serve and add their valuable perspective to the discussions. Any interested Clackamas County resident is encouraged to apply.

The primary duty of the 12-member commission is to establish and monitor programs to reduce traffic crashes, injuries and fatalities throughout the county.

The commission will have three three-year term regular seats open.
The commission will also have three seats open for young adults, aged 15-22. For students who are looking for great volunteer experiences, this work can count toward volunteer hours tied to graduation requirements. This is also a great way to build up a resume for college or career.

The Clackamas County TSC is one of the most active in the state, and plays an important role in formulating the transportation safety program, including:

The TSC meets at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every other month in the Development Services Building, Room 301, 150 Beavercreek Road, Oregon City. Each meeting is also open to any committee or community member who wish to join by Zoom.

Commission Chair Jim Rough states, “The Traffic Safety Commission plays a part in developing a safety consciousness in our county. As an example of this, my granddaughters won’t let me start the car until their seatbelts are on. I hope they will have the same attitude to cellphone use when they learn to drive. Safety attitudes save lives and it could be yours!”

Interested individuals are asked to complete and submit an application form by March 15, 2022. An application may be completed online at https://web3.clackamas.us/abc/application.jsp or can be obtained by calling 503-655-8751 or emailing communityinvolvement@clackamas.us.
